Liverpool are good. So good. The best I’ve ever seen them in my life.
Those of us just watching can sit back and enjoy it. Unfortunately for Jürgen Klopp, he can’t. So he’s still understandably demanding higher standards from his players.
’I’m really happy about [the record breaking start] but the problem is you don’t get anything from best starts except for numbers”, the Mail on Sunday report the Liverpool manager as saying.
“If people say in 50 years still we had the best start then cool but we just care about what we can get in the summer which is not done yet because this league is so strong.
“I’ve been in football 50 years and if somebody told me it was going to happen I’d have said it is not possible, so I don’t know what is wrong with me [that I don’t feel anything].
“It’s really cool and it’s exceptional and I told the boys - we analysed after the game what we could have done better and should have done better - but it is obviously very exceptional otherwise teams would have done it before.
“Maybe after five years or so I will think about it but for now all I can say is that with all we have we try to create a base for the rest of the season and the rest of the season is quite long.
“There are a lot of tough games to be played and the next game is especially tough. We have to make sure we are ready for that.
“Today was difficult and we made it a bit too difficult for ourselves but that is not to forget or underestimate the quality of the other team.”
It’s easy to get very excited about what is happening right now. I certainly am. But someone has to maintain focus and remind us that nothing has been won yet. That person right now is a Mr. Jürgen Norbert Klopp.
