With the players off on international duty and meaningful club news hard to find, EA Sports know it’s the perfect time to drop a wave of FIFA 20 news as they look to convince fans of both real-life football and their digital version to shell out on their yearly roster update.

And for Liverpool fans, there’s a lot to talk about when it comes to said rosters and how the club’s players are rated coming off a 97-point league season and sixth European Cup. Namely that, more than ever, there are going to be a lot of really good Reds in the game.

Seven Liverpool stars did enough make the cut and crack the game’s top 100 this season, and two Reds are up amongst FIFA 20’s ten highest rated players as Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk both received 90 ratings starting out in this year’s edition of the game.

Six players are rated higher than the Liverpool duo—Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Eden Hazard, Kevin de Bruyne, and Jan Oblak. Meanwhile, despite rumours he would be 90-rated, Alisson Becker misses the cut—and the top ten—with an 89.

Sadio Mané at 88, Roberto Firmino at 86, and then Fabinho and Andy Roberton at 85 are the other Liverpool players in the top 100 this year, with Firmino and Fabinho likely to be the two that leave most scratching their heads wondering why they aren’t a little higher.

Still, it’s a step up for the Reds on the whole, as last season no players made the top ten, with Salah rated 27th and Van Dijk all the way back at 82nd behind teammates Mané and Firmino. Alisson also makes a giant leap from 86th to just outside the top ten.

Outside the top 100, FIFA haven’t officially revealed the rest of the ratings, but all of Liverpool’s key first team players are expected to be rated 80 or higher and it’s been rumoured Trent Alexander-Arnold’s 89 potential is best amongst their younger stars.
