According to Sadio Mané, his biggest struggle at Liverpool might not be out on the pitch, trying to score goals and beat opponents and work hard for his teammates.

No, according to Mané, where he struggles is in explaining just how much he enjoys being at the club, which his teammates and manager Jürgen Klopp and playing for the fans out on the pitch at Anfield week after week.

“I’m really happy to be a part of the club, the family here,” Mané told Complex. “We have the best fans in the world, so I’m always so thankful for the support. It’s not just great for me—it gives the whole squad more motivation to perform.

“It keeps us hungry to get better and better together. I really struggle to describe how happy I am to be here!”

Happy and, at 27 years of age, looking to push on—to follow up a season where he scored 26 goals, shared the Premier League’s Golden Boot, and was key to Liverpool winning their sixth European Cup with even more.

More personally and, even more importantly than that, more for the team and with his teammates—with breaking Liverpool’s league drought now his very top priority.

“Winning [the Champions League],” he added, “and seeing how much it meant has given us all more motivation this season to perform and win more trophies for this club.

“Our target, as everyone knows, is to win the league this season, [but] we’re targeting the Champions League as well.”
