Gini Wijnaldum arrived back at Melwood this weekend to begin his preseason training with the team, and he’s already talking about lifting more trophies this season. It seems that Wijnaldum has acquired a taste for winning after their Champions League victory last month. Same, Gini. Same.
“Because I know how it feels right now, I want it again,” he told the official site. “That’s why I came back hungry, the guys also came back hungry to achieve even more.
“It’s a good feeling and it’s the feeling you want to get used to, winning trophies like that. That’s why everyone is hungry to do even better this year and win more.”
I don’t think any Liverpool fan would turn their noses up at a second straight Champions League trophy, but the Holy Grail for the Reds has to be the Premier League title.
The club has so far not brought in any new recruits to strengthen the team for the season to come, but there’s still time to for Klopp and co to pull a few rabbits out of their hats and surprise us.
