Rumour Mongering: Jürgen Klopp to Sign New Five-Year Liverpool Deal

Big, if true.

Liverpool are heading to a second consecutive Champions League final and, whatever happens this weekend on the Premier League title front, will have recorded one of the greatest ever seasons in England’s top flight.

To call manager Jürgen Klopp integral to that would be an understatement, which makes a report out of Italy that he’s set to sign a new five-year deal with the club a very, very good piece of news—assuming, of course, it’s accurate.

The reasons for the news leaking in Italy and not from the English press in this case seem sound enough, though, with Calcio Mercato claiming Juventus recently approached Klopp about taking over in Turin this summer.

Klopp, though, said no. There wasn’t even time for talk of money, term, or the potential project, with the German rebuffing the Serie A giants on their initial approach, citing a commitment to Liverpool and an imminent new contract.

According to the report, the expectation is that Klopp will sign his new deal during the break between the final game of the league season against Wolves on Sunday and the Champions League final on June 1st against Spurs.
