With the final international break of the season done, Liverpool are preparing for a final push. Seven league games and a quarter final in the Champions League at least are guaranteed, and the right results could lead to a truly special finish.
Much of whether those right results come will fall on the left boot of Mohamed Salah, and manager Jürgen Klopp thinks that after a long season the player will get a boost from being able to spend much of the past two weeks recharging.
“He always played pretty much all games everywhere, for his country and for us,” Klopp said when asked about the need to give Salah, who was left off the Egyptian squad this month, some time off ahead of the final stretch of the 2018-19 season.
While most of Salah’s teammates were either off with their national teams or training back at Melwood, Salah put in some quality hours at the beach before returning to Liverpool, where he will now look to add to his 20 goal, nine assist season.
“It was really important,” Klopp added. “Now he will be here, a week to prepare for the rest of the season, so that’s cool. I spoke to him, he looked really relaxed and in a good mood. Now, let’s go.”
