Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool were handed a fitness boost today as Joe Gomez returned to full training alongside his teammates for the first time since he suffered an ankle injury at the start of December that required surgery to fully heal.
The player won’t be expected to play a part against Tottenham, with even a bench appearance not likely given his near three-month absence, but with six games scheduled for the club in April, he will surely have a role to play soon.
However, progress remains slow for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who it had been hoped would be ready to go by the end of March, as he is currently dealing with a minor setback that Jürgen Klopp says has kept him out of training this week.
Meanwhile, reports claim the club remain hopeful that Trent Alexander-Arnold and Xherdan Shaqiri will be fit enough to at least make the bench when Liverpool take on Tottenham on Sunday, though as yet there is no new news on their status.
Following Sunday’s final game of March, Liverpool next take on Southampton on Friday before hosting Porto in the first leg of the Champions League quarter finals.
