Robertson Already Focused On Merseyside Derby

It seems as if the Liverpool lads are already focused on the next task at hand (putting Everton in their place).

Liverpool fans the world over are still coming down from the high after last night’s 5-0 thrashing of a good Watford side. The players, on the other hand, already seem to be looking ahead to a big, big Merseyside Derby on Sunday.

“You play your two biggest rivals, in terms of the fans and things, Manchester United and Everton - then of course it is a big week, with Watford in between,” Robertson told Sky Sports after last night’s win.

“Watford are flying just now and we have beaten a good side tonight. We got a point at United and now hopefully go into the Everton game full of confidence.

”We know how hard that game is going to be, especially at Goodison Park. We need to be at our best.

”If we play something like we did tonight, I am sure we will give them a good game.”

Mate, if y’all play like you did tonight, you’ll absolutely run the Blue Shite off the park.

Of course, Robbo’s right that Everton will likely pose a unique challenge. Just like United were keen to throw a wrench into Liverpool’s title run, so too will the Blues. Despite Everton’s poor form—4 wins in all competitions since the start of the new year (against Lincoln City, Bournemouth, Huddersfield Town, and Cardiff)—they’ll be motivated by pure spite (respect) to derail our season.

We only needed to see former Evertonian Gerard Deulofeu’s performance last night to know that the Reds will be put under pressure across town. But if Liverpool show their quality, as they did against Watford, there are few teams in Europe that can handle that kind of pressure, and Everton are not one of them.
