Recently, Jürgen Klopp extended his Liverpool contract through 2024, sending a signal he intends to carry on with his current project beyond the seven years he spent with Mainz and Dortmund, a fact since widely celebrated by Liverpool fans.
According to his agent, Marc Kosicke, it was a move that made sense for everyone, with his time at Anfield having proven to the German manager that—much as he suspected when he arrived—there is no place in football better suited for him.
“Jürgen loves the club and at the moment I can’t think of any that would suit him better,” Kosicke told Sport1. “He doesn’t think there is, either. So now everyone is happy, and right now there isn’t any reason he wouldn’t see out his contract.”
Of course, Klopp won’t be able to stay forever. Even if he wanted to, eventually the pressure of the job will mean he needs to step back. But the intention and goal is for him now to remain at least through the end of the 2023-24 season.
In part, Klopp has said that decision to extend his stay was in part driven by his desire to ensure that Liverpool are positioned for long-term dominance when he does leave—a reflection of that love for the club his agent says he has.
