Sadio Mané Says Liverpool are Working Hard to Win the Premier League

We shouldn’t even be talking about this but it’s possible that Liverpool might win the Premier League this season. The campaign is only halfway over, I know, but a 13 point lead with a game in hand against West Ham, while Manchester City continue to lose their mind and could even find themselves in a battle for top four by the run-in, is quite a position for Jürgen Klopp’s side.

Sadio Mané was speaking recently about Liverpool missing out on the league title last season. Klopp’s team lost one match, drew too many, and conceded the big trophy by a single point. The Reds had lost to City at the Etihad on January 3rd and, due to the consistency of Pep Guardiola’s team, those dropped points proved a crucial difference.

Mane describes a unifying reaction amongst the squad after allowing City to win out in the 18/19 season. The loss stung and it’s caused a reaction from the manager, his staff, and the team.

“If you lose the league that hurts you in the head mentally, so we always focus on the same target: we want to win something,” Mané said.

“We have learned from the mistake last year. That was a tough time for us and I think we have learned a lot from it.

“I think we are better this season than last year in what we’re trying to do. It’s another adventure for us. Let’s keep working and try to keep things at the same level.

“I think you have to sacrifice yourself at this moment when you are in our situation. You have to deal with it and keep going. We are all working hard every minute of the day to get better and better.”

Just thinking back on the incredible form that Liverpool have been in lately, I’d say, that’s true. Because it looks like they are getting better and better.

And now we’ll have Minamino getting into the mix. Even betterer.
