Although Liverpool do not kickoff until next week, the Club World Cup is underway.

I know this is hardly breaking news, but December is a busy month for Liverpool. A do-or-die match against RB Salzburg on Tuesday. A must-win match in the Premier League (because they’re all must-win matches in the Premier League) against relegation fodder Watford on Saturday. A surprisingly massive showdown against Leicester City on Boxing Day.

Oh, and the FIFA Club World Cup in between. Oh! And we have to send the kids to Aston Villa at some point as well.

Anyway, the Club World Cup. It started. Last night. While all the world was focused on the final day of the Champions League Group Stage, Qatari champions Al Sadd ran out as 3-1 victors over Oceania representatives Hienghene Sport. The match was knotted at 1-1 after 90 minutes, but two goals in extra time saw Al Sadd advance to the next round.

Al Sadd will now face CONCACAF Champions League winners Monterray on Saturday the 14th of December. And the winner of that match will have the honor of being eliminated by Liverpool on Wednesday the 18th in the semifinal.
