Mohamed Salah Back in Training Ahead of Crystal Palace Clash

It might be too soon for the Egyptian goal machine to return to action for Liverpool, but he is back in training.

Of Liverpool’s growing injury concerns, Mohamed Salah has to be among the most concerning (if not actually the most concerning). Salah has been carrying an ankle injury that he picked up during the dying minutes of the Leicester City match before the last international break, after a particularly aggressive tackle from Hamza Choudhury.

The seriousness of the ankle injury became apparent to all when Salah showed up to the Egyptian national team camp in a boot, not to train, but for moral support.

When Salah was sent home to recuperate at Melwood, it seemed a near-certainty that he wouldn’t feature against Crystal Palace for the first Premier League game back.

However, Salah was pictured training today, which seems to open the door for his return to action sooner rather than later. Club-linked reporters still seem to think that Saturday will come too soon for the two-time Golden Boot winner to return, but a return to training has to be seen as a good sign nonetheless.

If Saturday comes too soon for Salah to start, perhaps there is the possibility of bringing him on as a sub. Or, failing that, he might be in line to start against Napoli on Wednesday, in a match that very well could decide Liverpool’s Champions League fate in Group E.
