It’s another international break. Which means that Liverpool fans will for the most part be worrying more about players staying fit over the next two weeks than they will be about any results while club football is on hold.
On that front, there’s some bad news and some news that is less than good. Starting with the latter, Liverpool are reportedly concerned about the knock Mohamed Salah took during their game against Manchester City,
The star forward suffered a blow to his already damaged, slowly recovering ankle, and ended the match with it wrapped in ice. Despite the club’s concerns, the player has joined Egypt and is expected to play this week.
Egypt are set to take on Kenya on the 14th and Comoros on the 18th in Africa Cup of Nations qualification, and any scans of Salah’s ankle will have to wait until he returns to Liverpool—hopefully in one piece.
However, Liverpool and the club’s fans won’t have to worry about Andy Robertson playing. Because he’s going to sit out Scotland’s games this week due to an ankle injury—reportedly similar to the one Salah’s nursing.
Robertson will remain with the squad as they prepare for the game but will not travel for their game. Given the apparent similarity to Salah’s injury, Robertson has to be considered a doubt to be fit for Crystal Palace.
