Liverpool fans have been salivating over Naby Keita’s arrival for over a year after RB Leipzig’s refusal to sell in the summer of 2017. His addition in the squad has been exciting, and there is likely much more to come from the Guinean midfielder.
Keita is also excited about the possibilities that his Merseyside move might bring, starting, he hopes, today against Tottenham Hotspur.
“I can smell it in the dressing room,” Keita told The Times. “Everyone is motivated by that fixture list. I can smell it.
“That is what I have come here for, games like [against Spurs].
“I think we are all here to make a difference.”
Mate, don’t talk up Spurs like that. They’re just now starting to think of themselves as a Big Club™, no need to add to their egos.
On a serious note, the team—especially those who were here from last season—will no doubt be looking to get revenge against Tottenham. The 4-1 drubbing from our last trip to London will be on their minds. So too will the frustrating and controversial 2-2 draw which ultimately allowed them to finish above us in the final league table.
If Keita wanted to prove himself in the biggest matches against England and Europe’s best, he will have plenty of opportunities in the next few weeks to do so. We all hope he can do exactly that.
