The final pre-season match is in the books, and it was another impressive display by Klopp’s men as they beat Torino 3-1 at Anfield. While seeing all the new players in action, getting a chance to scope out the up-and-coming young talent, and see our favorite players in pre-season is always entertaining, nothing beats the actual season.

Following stops in America, France, and Ireland, Liverpool are back home and ready to start the season on Sunday. Though there are some mild concerns about the fitness of the defense going into this final match, the team performed well and look ready for the opener against West Ham on Sunday.

Klopp appears to feel the same way. After the game, he expressed happiness at the outcome of the game and a desire to get the season started.

“I’m happy that we came through the pre-season so far, so good,” he said. “You saw tonight we don’t really struggle with centre-halves, they are all in and only have little things. But for tonight, the two available played. Nat Phillips played an outstanding pre-season and now he played the game tonight, 70-80 minutes at Anfield for the first team. It is really nice to see how he developed.

“Now we have to make the last step, we have to bring ourselves into the competition, in a championship mood, really being 100 per cent focused in all the situations. Obviously in the offensive department we are able to do some nice things but that’s only one part of the game. We have a few days, I like that. But I’m happy we can start at the weekend because pre-season is good but the season is even better.”

Let the “less than a week until the football’s back” excitement begin.
