After a year of anticipation, fans will soon get to see Naby Keita put on Liverpool colors and join Klopp’s already-impressive attacking force. Fans were shocked and thrilled at the tail-end of last summer’s transfer window when the club made the unusual announcement that they had signed Keita from RB Leipzig starting, not that season, but the following one. Now it’s a year on and the wait to see him playing alongside Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mané is almost over.
The fans are not the only ones looking forward to the Guinea star joining the ranks. Sadio Mané, who played with Keita at RB Salzburg, is also anticipating playing with him once Mané returns from representing Senegal in the World Cup.
“I know him well,” Mané said. “He’s more than a friend, he’s a brother. We already played with each at RB Salzburg (in 2013-14). We often speak on the phone. He’ll be very welcome. He’s a talented player who’s going to bring a lot to Liverpool.”
This is good news for a club where everyone seems to get along with each other. Klopp is putting together a genuinely likable, friendly group of guys who all seem to like each other. With any luck, it will only be a matter of time until we get photos of Keita and Bobby going clothes shopping or Instagram stories of him and Virgil Van Dijk doing partner karaoke together,
In the mean time, without international duty to worry about, Keita will join the other players at Melwood for pre-season training in only two weeks.
