After two days of rest following the end of the Premier League season, and Liverpool’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion, Klopp and his players will head back to Marbella on Wednesday to ramp up preparations ahead of the Champions League final. The team will train there for four days, similar to what they did back in February when they had a long break in their schedule.
Klopp plans to take advantage of the gorgeous, sunny Spanish climate, as well as the state of the art training facilities available to them.
Several Liverpool players will not be traveling with the team due to injury. The most recent setback Liverpool received was confirmation that Emre Can would miss not only the final, but also the chance to play for Germany in the World Cup this summer. He joins a sad list of Redmen who will not be eligible for their countries, including Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
One player who will make it to Spain is vice-captain James Milner, who missed the last game of the season due to a muscle injury. That news should help placate Liverpool fans who fear for the ravaged midfield, as should seeing Adam Lallana get some game time against Brighton on Sunday.
The change of scenery worked well for the Reds in the winter, and hopefully it will have the same rejuvenating effect this time around, after completion of a very strenuous season.
