While Liverpool’s current stars are mostly away on international duty over the next week taking part in World Cup warm-ups, the club will be welcoming a team of Bayern Munich legends to Anfield to take on a group of former Liverpool stars.

The headlining element for many is the return of Xabi Alonso, with the Spanish midfielder set to spend one half playing for Liverpool and one half for Bayern, but there are plenty of other noteworthy returning names the club have now confirmed.

Daniel Agger and Dirk Kuyt will be involved, new names added to the mix of more regular Liverpool Legends players like Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman, John Arne Riise, and Luis Garcia. Plus Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher will be there.

This Saturday’s Liverpool Legends squad in full:

1 – Jerzy Dudek
1 – David James
3 – Bjorn Tore Kvarme
4 – Jason McAteer
5 – Daniel Agger
6 – Phil Babb
6 – John Arne Riise
7 – Steve McManaman
8 – John Aldridge
8 – Steven Gerrard
9 – Ian Rush (player-manager)
9 – Robbie Fowler (captain)
10 – Luis Garcia
10 – Michael Owen
11 – Vladimir Smicer
14 – Xabi Alonso
15 – Patrik Berger
16 – Dietmar Hamann
18 – Dirk Kuyt
21 – Gary McAllister
23 – Jamie Carragher

It’s a strong side on paper, with a number of players who have only recently retired and might still be able to make a contribution to a first team somewhere—players like Alonso, Kuyt, and perhaps even Agger and Gerrard—had they been so inclined.

And for Liverpool fans who won’t be at Anfield, the game—set to kick off at 3PM GMT/10AM EST on Saturday—will be carried globally on LFCTV and for free on the LFC Facebook page as well as being picked up by more traditional outlets in some markets.
