As if yesterday’s dour performance and deserved loss was not bad enough, there was also the worry about Naby Keita.
The Guinean midfielder went down without contact in the middle of the pitch after barely a quarter of an hour gone in last night’s Champions League clash against Napoli. Things went from a mild to a major concern quickly thereafter when Keita was stretchered off the pitch and immediately replaced by Jordan Henderson.
Keita was reportedly experiencing severe back pain during the match, and was taken to a local hospital for a scan. The club are reporting this morning that it was just precautionary, and the tests revealed no major injury. He was cleared to return to the team hotel, and to travel back to Merseyside with the rest of the team.
According to The Echo, the midfielder might even train tomorrow, and therefore remains in contention for a spot on Sunday’s matchday squad against Manchester City.
Regardless whether or not Jurgen Klopp wishes to rush the midfielder back, this is great news after the scary scenes last night.
