Watch: Mohamed Salah Wins Club’s Player of the Month

Mo Salah’s first month at Liverpool has been a good one, but his title has already generated controversy.

While The Liverpool Offside’s poll on who you reckon deserves the title of “Player of the Month” is currently being led by Sadio Mané and Bobby Firmino, the club’s official poll has closed and the winner’s been declared. Mohamed Salah, who you’ve got in third place, has come out on top and the club, in a bid to lower all the raised eyebrows, has put together a video to remind you why so many people voted for him.

Unfortunately, the video will do little to assuage the fears of everyone concerned about the integrity of this particular referendum. Mané and Firmino arguably had better opening months (Mané in particular returning with a sweet, sweet vengeance), but Salah has the backing of all his Egyptian fans who are happy to vote for him in any category he’s nominated in regardless of Mané’s general tactical brilliance in every game.

It’s unlikely that Liverpool will take their polling as seriously as every fan that’s up in arms about the results, so it’s probably for the best if we sit back and enjoy Salah’s reign. And maybe begin campaigning right now to make sure everyone knows that their vote counts when September ends.
