Many of Liverpool’s internationals are off playing for their countries, but they’re still keeping up with the news coming out of Anfield. The biggest news as of late has been Liverpool making their first major signing of the summer.
Mohamed Salah joined the club last week for a record breaking fee, and will get the whole pre-season to train with and get to know his new teammates. Many, including vice-captain James Milner, have praised the Egyptian international and expressed their excitement to play with him come July.
Emre Can, while off with the German National Team, also had some good things to say about Salah.
“I am really looking forward to it because he’s a really good player,” Can said. “Yesterday or the day before I saw the stats for him from last year in Italy. I think he will be a very good player for Liverpool.”
Salah’s last season in Italy was also his best. He scored 19 goals and provided 15 assists for AS Roma. Fans will be desperate to see him play alongside the likes of Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mané, and yes, Emre Can himself.
Not that we all aren’t riveted to our televisions watching the Confederations Cup, but in this humble writer’s opinion, pre-season can’t come soon enough. In the mean time, though, the club can keep bringing in exciting new players to add to an already talented squad.
