Liverpool, for the second year running, enter the final weeks of the season unsure about their fate in Europe’s top competition for the following campaign. This time, they’ll attempt to qualify through the more traditional route—a top 4 finish—instead of winning the difficult-to-navigate Europa League (and its questionable policy toward handling the ball inside the box).
While our fate for next season is TBD, one thing that is sure is that we’ll be wearing red, and with commemorative 125th year anniversary badges to boot. Since taking over Liverpool’s shirt designs in 2012/13, New Balance (and their subsidiary Warrior) have reverted to a simple liver bird design for the shirt crest, hearkening back to the club’s glory days in the 80’s.
The new shirt not only has a retro crest, but also a very retro look. The embroidered liver bird is flanked by two dates: 1892 and 2017, with “125 Years” written underneath. The v-neck collar and cuffs are white, as is the sponsor logo, but the crest remains gold. The goalkeeper’s kit is green, with green and black patterned sleeves that look suspiciously like net bulging.
On first viewing, I have to say I’m pleased with the effort. And the commemorative 125th anniversary badge is neither gaudy, nor a huge departure from what we’ve seen in recent years.
A unique history. An unforgettable journey. Our new home kit, celebrating 125 years of Liverpool FC: https://t.co/lcgZrhL3rg#PureLFC pic.twitter.com/TskOoyhrFH

I’m actually a Manc. I prefer my kits made from the souls of children.
