We, at The Liverpool Offside, would never wish injury or illness upon an opposing talent, no matter how reviled. (OK, maybe Marouane Fellaini. Kidding not kidding.) However, if a key man for the opposing side happens to be out, well, we’ll take the good news when we can get it.
Such is the case with Arsenal’s key attacking man, Mesut Özil, who will apparently miss the match after coming down with flu-like symptoms midweek. This comes after Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger declared that Özil, “should be ok” for today. The German international is still recovering, and Goal is reporting that he has not made the trip up to Merseyside for tonight’s match.
This has to be considered great news for Liverpool, particularly with their sieve-like defense (apologies to sieves for the unflattering comparison).
The midfielder should be good to go for Tuesday night’s Champions League clash, when Bayern Munich are scheduled to put the London side out of their misery (until next year’s Round of 16, presumably).
