We at the Liverpool Offside would not wish injury on any professional footballer, even if said injury might help our chances. But if an injury happens to happen, well, we’ll take it, especially as we face our own crisis in the potential month-long loss of midfield dynamo Adam Lallana.
Everton are now facing a potential injury crisis on the other end of the pitch, losing at least one, possibly two defenders ahead of the Merseyside Derby. The first, rightback Seamus Coleman suffered a horrific broken leg during while playing for Ireland in a World Cup qualifier against Wales. I would advise not to search for that clip on YouTube, it is not safe for work, nor anywhere else you wouldn’t be comfortable vomiting.
Now, it seems that back-up centerback Funes Mori might be missing out as well. The defender was carried off in a stretcher with a suspected knee injury while playing against Bolivia for Argentina. For those of you who recall, Mori was the defender responsible for injuring a very in-form Divock Origi in last year’s 4-0 drubbing of the Toffees before immediately receiving his marching orders. So, while we would never wish harm blah blah blah, seriously fuck that guy.
We wish Coleman a speedy recover.
