Things aren’t going so well for Liverpool at the moment, and it looks like the Reds will be without two of their most consistent performers this season. Both Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne appear likely to miss out on the 4th Round FA Cup tie against Wolverhampton.
Lallana sustained a nasty cut on his knee during the League Cup semifinal exit against Southampton which required stitches. The three days between the last match and this one are unlikely to provide enough time to heal.
Clyne, on the other hand, has been malfunctioning since his last software upgrades. Or rather, he’s struggling with a strained abdominal muscle. One of these two things is probably true.
“Adam Lallana got a cut so I’m not sure that we should try whether the stitches are good enough,” Klopp explained. “We will see how Clyney is.
“It would be great for us if he could play after we rested him in the last game.
“We won’t make 10 changes or something but we will have to make a few changes. It will be slightly more experienced (than the team against Plymouth).”
Resting Lallana and Clyne is still probably not the worst idea, considering the Reds will need to be at their best if they want to get their Premier League campaign back on track against Chelsea.
