It has been an up and down first season for James Milner at Anfield, but Wednesday was a definite high for the midfielder as Liverpool notched a 3-0 revenge win over Manchester City. Even though the season has not gone as well as some had hoped, Milner remains confident that the Reds can finish strong and said the midweek win proves their ability.
"Hopefully that will drive us on and give the boys hunger," Milner said to the Echo. "It is important to finish the season strongly and take that momentum into next season."
Milner didn't rule out Champions League qualification, saying if the team can continue the form it showed in its latest match "there is no reason why not."
"We have a lot of games to go and a couple of big European games (against Manchester United)," Milner said. "Hopefully we can get through that so we have a lot still to play for this season."
"[Klopp] has come in and changed the style and it will take time to do it but we have shown at times this season we can do it and it is about consistency again."
