According to multiple confirmatory reports in the Irish press following a leak of International Champions Cup fixtures for this summer’s pre-season tournament, Liverpool are set to face off against Luis Suarez and Barcelona on August 6th as part of their preparations for the 2016-17 season.
There are no specifics yet when it comes to ticketing, but the game is scheduled to kick off at 5PM local time on the first Saturday of August. As yet, Liverpool fans don’t have any real idea who else the club will be facing in the pre-season tournament, though most of the games are expected to be played in North America.
Possible opponents include AC Milan, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea—all four had their games leaked, with Madrid facing Bayern on August 3rd in New Jersey and Milan playing Chelsea in Minneapolis on the same day. Liverpool previously confirmed they will spend time in North America this summer.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are rumoured to have plans to also face off against Leicester City and Celtic as part of their International Champions Cup schedule, though no matter where those games are played, they will struggle to measure up to the hype of facing off against Luis Suarez’ former club at Aviva Stadium.
Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Inter Milan, and PSG are also expected to be involved following discussions last week in London to finalise plans for this summer’s pre-season tournament.
