Capping off a two day team bonding trip to Spain this week was a stop at Camp Nou where Klopp, the team, and the coaching staff all took in FC Barcelona’s final Champions League group stage game against Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Spanish champions demolished the competition, winning 4-0 thanks to a second half hat trick by Arda Turan. Barca were already through to the round of 16, and so former Red Luis Suarez didn’t even feature in the game.
The team was spotted in the crowd quickly, with several entertaining snaps making the rounds on blogs and social media. The best, for the record, is one where Adam Lallana can be seen inexplicably enjoying a shiny red apple mid-match.

Most of the first team players attended the trip, which was meant to be a relaxing break and a chance to enjoy Spain’s warmer climate for a few days before the big push of the winter period. Injured players Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge stayed in Merseyside to continue their rehab, and many of the academy players stayed behind to play in the U-23s match against West Brom.
Hopefully this distraction helps to refocus the team after their heartbreaking loss to Bournemouth on Sunday. Their next challenge comes in the form of West Ham, who will be visiting Anfield this weekend.
