With Liverpool’s show-down with the fiercest of fierce rivals, Manchester United, on the immediate horizon, Jürgen Klopp might face some selection difficulties. Chief among those difficulties would be selecting a functional midfield, with two-thirds of the midfield currently racing to get back in contention for Monday night.
However, Klopp has not ruled out either Adam Lallana or Georginio Wijnaldum in this moment.
"[They are] not too bad but it's a question of perspective, I would say," Klopp said, waxing philosophical. "In this moment, we don’t know exactly who is available. We all know about the obvious issues with Gini and Adam but they are both not ruled out for Monday.
"Four sessions to go sounds long, but [it's] only four sessions to go, so we have to see. I don't have to make a decision now, so I can wait until I make my final decision and we will have a really good team on the pitch I'm sure.”
Throughout the break there have been numerous reports on both players, but most seemed to indicate that Monday night would be two soon for the injured midfielders. But it would be an obvious boost if either versatile player can make it into the matchday squad.
Alternatively, Klopp could just be keeping a certain “Special One” guessing about which Liverpool side—or even formation—to prepare for.
