Hot on the heels of confirming their Europa League squad, Liverpool has released their Premier League squad for the 2015-2016 season. With fewer restrictions placed on Premier League squads as compared to Europa League, noted exclusions from the continental squad — Jose Enrique and Joao Carlos Teixeira — have found their way back into consideration for Brendan Rodgers' matchday selection on weekends.
Like in Europa League, Liverpool can name a squad of up to 25 players plus unlimited U21 players. Though there is no club-trained requirement in the league, no more than 17 of the 25 slots can go to non-home grown players. Proposed changes to the home grown player rules haven't yet come into effect, and so the Premier League still defines home grown player as:
"… a player who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to The Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months before his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21)."
Liverpool have still only named 21 players out of a potential 25, but the unlimited nature of the U21 squad spots means that players like Emre Can, Joe Gomez, and Divock Origi who took up a slot in Europa League now drop into the unlimited category, freeing up space for Enrique and Teixera.
Liverpool's full list, as reported by the Daily Mirror who delightfully include middle names when they've been officially used on the Premier League register.
