Liverpool may have a number of Brazilians on the books, but not a single one was called up during the international break. As it happens, there was a game behind closed doors that could help players such as Roberto Firmino and Kolo Touré continue to improve their match fitness. Wolverhampton Wanderers were on hand as opposition, but Liverpool won the game 3-2.
Quite a few senior Liverpool players were involved including Dejan Lovren, Philippe Coutinho, Alberto Moreno, and João Carlos Teixeira. Brazilian fledgling Allan started the game alongside three of his compatriots, and Sheyi Ojo and Sergi Canos—both on loan at Championship clubs—appeared from the bench.
Brazilian pair Coutinho and Firmino scored the goals to give Liverpool victory in a friendly that was probably designed to keep the players back at Melwood relatively sharp during the international break. Assessing players who are out on loan is another objective for Jürgen Klopp as he's still getting to know players more. It's still early days in Klopp's tenure, which means that every opportunity to understand his players better must be taken.
Here's a goal from the "practice match" for you cool kids.
