What. A. Game. Liverpool started the Premier League season in electric fashion, coming from behind against Arsenal to win 4-3. After going down 1-0 against the Gunners in a middling first half display, the Reds managed to go into the half all square after a delicious Philippe Coutinho free kick on the stroke of half time.
However, what can only be described as a maelstrom came out of the tunnel to greet the Londoners in the second half. A 14-minute period saw Adam Lallana, Coutinho with a second and Sadio Mané shock the Emirates Stadium to take it from 1-1 to 4-1 in the blink of an eye.
The night and day change between halves was summed up by Lallana in the glowing aftermath of the victory:
"Maybe we gave them too much respect, stood off them too much (in first half)," the former Southampton man noted, before adding that Jürgen Klopp used the break to motivate the blazing start the second half. "The manager had a few words to us at half-time, I thought we came out brilliantly."
You think? The Reds manager also confirmed that he used the break as a motivational period, stating: "It was a really intense game for both sides, so we used [half-time] to be more of a threat to then."
With the fire this incredible man is capable of instilling in his team in a 15 minute half time makes no lead safe.
