At the end of the Netherlands’ emphatic 6-1 victory against Turkey, Virgil van Dijk was down on the ground, clutching at his ankle in pain. A sight that sent Liverpool FC fans everywhere into full-blown panic. With the injury happening in the dying minutes of the game, Van Dijk wasn’t given the opportunity to walk it off.
Thankfully, Virgil van Dijk is a-okay. The big man confirmed in his post-match interview (no interview invaders this time) that he was alright.
“I’m fine, luckily. I’m already over it. Maybe because I am so big, they think I am acting, because when I go down, it goes in quite a slow way.”
Phew. Collective deep breath, everyone. Van Dijk hasn’t seemed to lose a step at all since his return from injury, and Liverpool will be glad that it was just a knock. Liverpool will travel to Leeds this Sunday, hopefully with Van Dijk in tow.
