Scotland and the Netherlands both played matches in their respective groups of the UEFA Nations League on Monday. Scotland continued to do well, scoring a 2-1 comeback victory against the Czech Republic.
Andy Robertson captained the team and played all 90 minutes of the game. Scotland trailed after an 11th minute goal, but brought things level through Lyndon Dykes in the 27th minute. A second half penalty decision sealed the deal for Scotland. They are now in the top spot in League 2 Group B.
For Virgil van Dijk and Gini Wijnaldum, things didn’t go quite so smoothly. They got shut out by Italy, losing the game 1-0. Nicola Barella scored the game’s only goal during extra time in the first half.
Van Dijk and Wijnaldum both put in 90 minutes in what had to have been a disappointing home defeat. The Dutch are now in second place for League 1 Group A.
England have their last game on Tuesday evening in Denmark, and then all of the players should be getting back to Melwood to prepare for the start of the season on Saturday when Liverpool welcome Leeds United to Anfield and the Premier League.
