WORLD CUP 2018 | DAY ELEVEN

England vs. Panama | 1PM BST/8AM EST
Japan vs. Senegal | 4PM BST/11AM EST
Poland vs. Colombia | 7PM BST/2PM EST

It’s day eleven. Egypt and Saudi Arabia and Morcco and Peru and Costa Rica are out. Argentina are on the ropes while Brazil and Nigeria look to have recovered. Belgium and Mexico are through. Germany are, somehow, back from the brink.

The day’s action kicks off with England taking on Panama, and if they win they will join Belgium in the knockout rounds—with the two sides meeting in the final group game to determine first in Group G. Jordan Henderson will again be expected to anchor midfield for the Three Lions while Trent Alexander-Arnold will be hoping to see action off the bench.

Then, a pair of Group H matches could prove decisive. Japan and Senegal face off first, and with both sides winning their first match this is the game that could determine who finishes first in the group—with Sadio Mané’s Senegal favourites against a Japan side that got some help when Colombia were sent down to ten men in their opener. And the hope will be not just that Mané and Senegal win, but that they are able to start to show the kind of team balance that could make them more than just group favourites.

The day then ends with Poland and Colombia both knowing they need to win in order to have any chance of advancing—which should make for an exciting match to end a very exciting World Cup lineup.
