Jordan Henderson Took His Physio On Vacation With Him

The Liverpool captain and England international wanted to do everything right during the pre-season.

Who’s better to party with in Portugal than your physical therapist — that’s what I’ve always said, you can ask anyone.

Jordan Henderson took my advice, and this summer took his physio on vacation with him in order to ensure that he remained healthy after his long injury lay-offs of last season. In addition to playing for Liverpool, Henderson’s focus is on being fit for the World Cup next summer.

“For the majority of the time I was at Melwood, and then I got to go away for a week in Portugal,” Henderson explained. “But I still trained while I was there.

“The physio came with us – I just wanted to make sure I was doing everything so when I came back for pre-season I was fine and all that work paid off.

“He came to make sure I am doing the right things and to treat me, just so I could get a little break in the summer. And when we go on the beach...he comes with us - sometimes, if he wants to. I might even get him an ice-cream!”

His hardwork and dedication — and perhaps a strategic mint chocolate chip sugar cone or two — has worked out so far. He’s played in all four of Liverpool’s games to start the season and has appeared to get better in each.

If Liverpool succeeds in doing the transfer business they plan to in then Klopp could utilize his options in midfield to give Henderson’s legs a break as the season progresses.

Henderson is training with the England National Team to prepare for their World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovakia.
