With Portugal having advanced to the Euro 2016 final yesterday, today we learn who will face them on Sunday. And for many, it will be today’s winner who will be clear favourites. Germany and hosts France have both done well so far playing largely engaging, attacking football. Both have, at their best, put on a show. Today, the hope will be for the game of the tournament. Though with that kind of build-up, one does always fear a bit of a let down.
Still, on paper at least, this is the sort of game every football fan makes a little room in his day for. This is a big one. And, thanks to a slew of midfield injuries, there’s likely to be some Liverpool rooting interest in the form of midfielder Emre Can, who is a frontrunner to step into the starting eleven for Die Mannschaft today.
