Jamie Carragher Weighs In on Salah Contract Negotiations

The Liverpool legend thinks he’s worth the extra cash.

As contract negotiations continue between Mohamed Salah and Liverpool, former Liverpool player and Scouse legend Jamie Carragher gave his opinion on the subject on Monday Night Football.

According to Carra, Salah is a player that will make it into the Liverpool All Time XI, and he deserves the extra wages he’s demanding of the club.

“When people talk about Liverpool winning the league, they always go back to Liverpool signing Alisson and Virgil Van Dijk. Mo Salah came in six months before [Van Dijk],” Carragher said.

“It is the three of them but everyone mentions that it was the goalkeeper and the centre-back that took Liverpool to this next level. Mo Salah is a huge part of that.”

With key players to the Liverpool set-up all signing extensions over the summer, Carragher is looking to see Salah’s name be the next one added to the growing list.

“While Liverpool have not spend big this summer like other teams they have had a lot of players sign new contracts. The one that is yet to sign is Mo Salah,” he continued.

“Now, he obviously wants a few quid. And rightly so. Good luck to him. He deserves it. He deserves to be one of the highest paid players in the Premier League for what he has done since he came to Liverpool, he really does.

“He is never injured and year after year he is top goalscorer. He just is. That is what he is.”

The lack of reinforcements up top brought in this summer certainly makes it seem that the club are confident in their ability to keep the top shelf talent that they do have. That certainly includes Salah, who just became the fifth fastest player to reach 100 Premier League goals.
