In less than a week, Liverpool commence their campaign for the 2021-22 Premier League title. Before that however, there are two preseason friendlies scheduled, the first of which will be played against La Liga side Athletic Club (also known as Athletic Bilbao) tonight.

Coach Marcelino’s side finished 10th in the La Liga last season, but won the Supercopa de España or the Spanish Super Cup.

The warmup game will be played at Anfield in front of a stadium filled to 70% capacity.

The game will be an opportunity for Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez to return to Premier League form as they work towards match fitness. Both featured in the previous friendly against Bologna. Thiago may not feature due to an injury picked up during the Euros, and which seems to be continuing.
