LIVERPOOL VS BOLOGNA
| Thursday, August 5th |
Pre-Season | Camille Fournier Stadium, Evian
3PM & 5PM BST/10AM & 12PM EST
Following on from an oddball 30-minutes double header in Austria two weeks ago, the Reds have done it again, setting up an unconventional friendly fixture, this time playing two 60-minute matches against Bologna, with a 60-minute break in between.
Things will be back to normal at the weekend, with regular matchups against Athletic Bilbao and Osasuna on Sunday and Monday, but for now, expect at least two full teams to feature in high-intensity bouts likely to contain more chaos and running than actual high-quality play.
Thiago sits this one out with a minor injury concern, but Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk are again expected to play at least 30 minutes, as they continue their measured recovery from last year’s season-ending injuries. Otherwise, Jürgen Klopp boasts an abnormally healthy squad.
Bologna are early in their pre-season programme still, and were hammered 3-0 by Borussia Dortmund at the weekend, but given the context of the match, should be expected to give the Reds plenty of challenge.
