Liverpool senior players took a break from their preseason training, and joined club staff across all departments for a quiz night in Salburg, Austria, meant to facilitate team bonding.
Jurgen Klopp revealed a few details on what went down.
”Billy Hogan was in my team as well! Each department of the club was represented pretty much, it was great. I was really happy that I had Matt McCann [director of first team communications]...and Caoimhin Kelleher in the team otherwise we would have struggled, a lot”, Klopp said.
His team came third and he got lucky. Because the ones that didn’t, had to perform a forfeit dance, snippets of which Mohamed Salah posted on his Instagram story.
“We came third, which was really important because being eighth last night was a tough one. Only [Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain] Ox enjoyed the [forfeit] dance, pretty much all the others felt slightly awkward!” Klopp added.
“Creating common memories is important. When we speak about that we think about big games, but big games start in moments like this.”

He emphasized the importance of these activities to build relationships within the squad - across age groups and personalities. Those relationships can then translate on the pitch, where seamless communication is key.
“You do that, the groups are mixed through - young players, older players with staff members and all these kinds of things. You have to do these things to have a little story to tell, it’s nice.
