Before the full preseason games begin, Liverpool will warm up their squad with two 30 minute matches on Tuesday. The first match will be against Wacker Innsbruck, the other against VfB Stuttgart. The matches will be held behind closed doors, but fans can watch on the official site.
The big news about these little games, however, is confirmation from Jurgen Klopp that defender Ibrahima Konate will get his Liverpool debut. The club announced Konate’s arrival in May, and he officially joined at the beginning of the month. Joining early meant that he’s had the opportunity to complete all of preseason in Austria with his new teammates, and now he’ll get to show off his skills in game.
“Tuesday. He’s had a good rest, had a normal pre-season so far, so yeah, he can play on Tuesday. For Ibou it is important that he gets minutes quickly, that’s what pre-season is for,” Klopp said.
Liverpool fans who tune into the friendly will luxuriate at the sight of a full roster of defenders at Klopp’s disposal for the first time since last fall.
