Liverpool announced the signing of defender Ibrahima Konate to much fanfare and excitement all the way back at the end of May. Finally, six weeks later, preseason has begun and Konate finally gets to join his new teammates in scenic Austria.
The 22-year-old defender arrived from RB Leipzig and was clearly the club’s solution to the insane defender injury problem they encountered last season. With a newly fit Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez returning, it will be interesting to see how well he proves himself to the boss over these next few weeks. Will he be van Dijk’s new partner or will Gomez keep his position?
Liverpool understand the fans’ thirst for Konate content and delivered.

Konate also went onto social media to celebrate his first training session under Klopp’s gentle tutelage.

He even dropped the #ynwa, which is what makes it official.
The earliest we’ll all get to see him in action will be Friday, July 23rd when Liverpool take on Klopp’s former club, FSV Mainz 05. Their next stop will be Tivoli Stadium against Hertha BSC before returning to the UK.
