Liverpool FC seems to have scored a bargain with the ruling over Harvey Elliot’s tribunal fee, and it’s something they’re definitely attempting to replicate with four youth signings over the winter transfer window. The Athletic did a piece diving into the yutes, and Derby County’s club academy director Darren Wassall gushed over the potential of one Kaide Gordon:
His ability is very exciting, he’s got a lot of pace and talent.
He’s got a fantastic left foot, first touch, an ability to run with the ball and dribble with it.
He’s lethal with his delivery from set-pieces. He sees a pass, he can score goals. His potential is massive.
When you are talking about a 16-year-old, you don’t want to put too much pressure on him by saying all that – but he has got it.
He’s got potential – and that’s all it is at the moment – to be whoever he wants to be.
That’s certainly high praise from the Academy Director. The versatile attacker has been training with Marc Bridge-Wilkinson and Liverpool’s under-18’s team, with Liverpool hoping that he makes the jump to Barry Lewtas’ U23 set-up sooner rather than later.
