The hunt for a central defender for Liverpool before the deadline closes on Monday evening is a lot like a family shopping for Christmas presents on Christmas Eve. It’s frantic and the first choice options are likely sold out. One name that’s been linked with Liverpool for a long time is Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig. He’s the hot prospect on the market right now and has a release clause this summer.
As is the case usually in Germany, Bayern Munich seem to be getting closer to signing Upamecano. A report from The Express says that Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic met with the French defender’s representatives for over two hours.
“Of course we are thinking about him.” Salihamidzic said, “We had a good meeting with his agents yesterday. Let’s see what happens.”
Bayern’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge also went on record recently, confirming interest in Upamecano, saying, “We will of course deal with it, not only with this player, but in principle on the positions where we want to do and have to do something.”
Usually when Bayern wants a player in Germany, they get that player. Those are the rules.
