After a tight first half, Liverpool dominated proceedings in the second half, aided by Chelsea going down to 10 men. Fabinho stepped in as an emergency center half, and was absolutely phenomenal. His Go Go Gadget Legs snuck in to steal the ball from Timo Werner more than once. Sadio Mane was a menace all game long, and scored both of Liverpool’s goals. Mohamed Salah didn’t get on the score sheet this week, but was a live wire from whistle to whistle. He turned defenders inside out more than once, and come a whisker away from a late goal. Alisson Becker had a huge penalty save, and also got down smartly to make a late save to preserve the clean sheet. Thiago Alcantara made his Liverpool debut, coming on at the half. He absolutely bossed the game, despite giving up the penalty. He just exudes class, and is going to be a blast to watch this season.

With our favored polling tool out of service, we’re instead giving you a choice between a few of the players we thought looked best today for the Reds, so make your choice below and vote for who you think should be the man of the match—or take to the comments to let us know that we got it wrong by leaving the real man of the match off the list entirely.

As always, anyone visiting on Apple News or Google AMP who wish to vote and can’t see the poll can make it visible by navigating to the front page of The Liverpool Offside and re-entering the story.
