Liverpool have made it clear they were in the market for cover at left back after Andrew Robertson. Liverpool lodged a bid for Norwich’s Jamal Lewis, but the clubs were said to be 10 million apart on their valuations. It appears that Liverpool have moved on in their pursuit rather than quibble with the relegated club.

After a rumor of a first bid for Olympiacos left back Kostas Tsimikas was rejected, multiple sources are now confirming that Liverpool and Olympiacos have agreed to a €13 million (£11.75 deal) for the player. Liverpool are reportedly now in advanced negotiations with Tsimikas (pronounced “Simikas”, the “T” is silent), and a medical is expected to take place next week. These reports are coming in from club connected journalists like James Pearce and Melissa Reddy.

The 24 year old left back was a mainstay for Olympiacos, providing five assists this past season. He seems an ideal fit for the way Liverpool use their fullbacks as creative outlets.

While no one expects Tsimikas to take the starting role from Robertson any time soon, it will be very nice for Liverpool fans to know there is a competent left-footed left back on the bench if ever needed. While we all try to find out more about the player, here’s a video compilation to whet the appetite.
