Liverpool star Fabinho was robbed as he celebrated his side’s maiden Premier League title win. Burglars broke into the Brazilian’s home in Formby sometime between 3pm Wednesday afternoon and 4am Thursday morning, according to police.
The player’s Audi RS6 sportscar—later found abandoned in Wigan—as well as jewelry were reported stolen. The break-in was only discovered once the 26-year-old returned home Thursday morning.
Merseyside police gave a statement: “Detectives in Sefton are appealing for information following a burglary in Formby.
“Police were called to an address in the early hours of this morning when the occupants entered their house to find it had been burgled.”
Wednesday’s 5-3 win over Chelsea in their final home fixture of the season gave the Reds the opportunity to celebrate the end of their 30-year wait for a league title by formally lifting the Premier League trophy. With Fabinho and his family understandably breaking quarantine to celebrate with his teammates at Anfield until early Thursday morning, current speculation is that the intrusion was pre-planned.
Fabinho is now the second Reds star in recent years to have suffered a break-in following the [second] burglary of striker Sadio Mané’s home last year.
