AC Milan Reveal Contact With Liverpool, Seek Advice

The Italian giants have sought out FSG’s guidance as they attempt to mirror the Reds meteoric return to prominence.

For a generation of Liverpool fans who missed out on the glory days of the 70s and 80s, supporting the Reds has become a completely new experience. Having weathered a few false dawns, the Anfield faithful have witnessed a stunning turnaround in the decade that Fenway Sports Group has owned the club, rising from fallen power to global juggernaut.

Arriving on the scene in 2010, the Boston-based owners restored the club to a stable financial footing while laying long-term infrastructural investments to secure the future. The signing of Jürgen Klopp as manager was the catalyst for on-field success, as steady, supportive management and innovative backroom structuring gave the German manager the backing to propel Liverpool to domestic, European and global honors.

While as supporters, it is sometimes easy to discount the difficulty of what the club has accomplished on the commercial, performance and infrastructural levels, one must only look around at the shambles that characterize the current situations at many of Europe’s storied sides.

Italian giants, AC Milan is one such operation, having fallen on hard times after ruling the continent in the 90s and early 2000s. Naturally, they have naturally looked to Anfield as a model for a return to greatness:

“We have been talking to Liverpool,” Milan’s chief revenue officer Casper Stylsvig revealed.

“Because they’ve been through the same path as we are going through now.

“Four, five years ago, no one considered Liverpool and see where they are now.

“They obviously play very attractive football. They are winning, they have a fantastic manager, a fantastic team and now they are following suit from a commercial perspective.

“It has taken time, but their model seems to work.”

Liverpool have become envy of football with arguably only the financial plastic surgery undergone at Manchester City and the slow, steady dominance of Bayern Munich comparing.

Without speculating as to the advice John Henry and Co. gave on these calls, we can presume that the formula for going from 0 to Liverpool is simple: run your business profitably, build a world-class staff collective, invest in your academy and infrastructure, nail 90% player recruitment and sign one of the best managers of your generation. Easy.
