Takumi Minamino and his amazingly crafted cheekbones has had some pretty interesting involvements since coming onto Liverpool. While slowly bedding into the system, he’s been deployed on the wing and in midfield since coming over from Red Bull Salzburg early in the winter transfer window.
The results have been decidedly muted, but given how long it’s taken various stars to adapt to Jurgen Klopp’s system, some time to learn was always going to be necessary. Still, there’ve been a lot of positives to take in his time on the pitch, with the same energetic and smart play being evident in his early runs out with the squad. In fact, one might even say he could have had a goal in the past week had a pass that fell to Naby Keita had been allowed to run onto him.
Regardless, there’s clearly more upside in the way of positive performances should the versatile attacker remain healthy. In that vein, Liverpool have officially added Minamino to the team’s Champions League roster today, meaning Liverpool fans can hope to see that upward trajectory in performances on Europe’s biggest stage.
Here’s hoping Takumi can cook up some magic over the course of this end-of-season run. These next few months are setting up to be one for the ages.
